Early November is the perfect time to get some pictures inside and some pictures outside. That is exactly what the Giese family opted to do on their chilly November afternoon. I wasn’t sure if they would all fit on the studio couch but they did! It was fun to get the 4 year old twins in the studio. It’s been 2 years since I’ve seen them. Last time I went out to their house in Oregon and they were less than impressed with me at moments 🙂
Many times if a mom reaches out to me after giving birth to their baby, it’s really hard to squeeze them into the studio in time for a newborn session since these sessions are done when baby is 4-14 days old. Lisa contacted me after her babies were born but considering they were born 6 weeks early, I had no issue getting them in on time. They were just over 1 month old when they were in the studio for their newborn session and I must say, Jonah and Ellory were amazing and such sweet hearts. Being a mother of boy/girl twins myself, I always have a soft spot for twin sessions. Jonah was the perfect big brother with his arm around his little peanut of a sister.
I spent the evening with the 3 most challenging children to photograph…MY kids.
No joke, photographing your own kids is the hardest. thing. EVER!
Tonight I did what I tell all my parents to do at the session: Let them be kids and not get upset with them if they don’t do exactly what I ask. It’s been over a year since I’ve intentionally dressed them up to get a picture of them together and tonight we had fun. Real fun! This is one of my favorites from the night. No one is looking at me (or even have their eyes open) but you can almost hear them laughing by looking at this picture and I love it.
I was double crazy with pictures of my own kids that I added in our dog too!
And at some point my twins grew up. They are 7 years old. Crazy to think it was when they were 18 months old when I thought “The thing they do at Picture People doesn’t look that hard. I have this big camera so I bet I can take the same pictures ….in my basement …. with flood lights.” LOL ….not kidding about the lights either. I should dig up one of those pictures.
It’s very rare to get all three of my kids in the studio for pictures. So rare we haven’t done it in over a year but Wyatt is now two and I thought it was time. Having twins was challenging when they were young but every day that goes by it gets easier and they are built in friends for life which is great.
I have boy/girl twins and know how close these two are going to be as they grow up. I’m so glad I was able to meet them in the studio for their newborn pictures. Big brother Connor was on his best behavior with his new brother and sister.
