Royal Oaks Rocket Run Winner | Family of Four Studio Portraits

Every year I donate a session or two to the Royal Oaks Rocket Run which is their annual school fundraiser. When the kids ask for sponsors to support them running laps for 20 minutes. They get a chance to win a prize and I find that offering a family session is the least I can do for the school. It’s fun to get to meet the families that win the prize but this time I already knew Will and his family. It turned out they are my neighbors! It was too much fun to get them in the studio for a family session. We even snuck out in the cold and got a few in the alleyway next to the studio.

Giese Family of 5 | At the studio and urban downtown Sun Prairie

Early November is the perfect time to get some pictures inside and some pictures outside. That is exactly what the Giese family opted to do on their chilly November afternoon. I wasn’t sure if they would all fit on the studio couch but they did! It was fun to get the 4 year old twins in the studio. It’s been 2 years since I’ve seen them. Last time I went out to their house in Oregon and they were less than impressed with me at moments 🙂

Hanson Family | Family Pictures as an Anniversary Gift from Parents

This summer I was contacted by a woman wanting to purchase a gift certificate for her daughter and son-in-law for their anniversary so they could get family pictures done. It turns out that the gift certificate was for my neighbors! What a small world. We ended up having a beautiful fall evening for their short family fall session.

Reader Family | Beautifully Wet and Overcast Fall Evening for fun family pictures

This fall in Wisconsin sure has been a rough one. It went from unimaginable amount of mosquitoes to raining non-stop. Thank goodness the Reader family trusted me when I told them we should keep our schedule session time even though it was raining most the day. The trees are just starting to turn here in Sun Prairie and we ended up having a fun…wet feet…evening at the park. Little 2 year old Evie wasn’t always sure about the chill in the air, but held it together for so many fun family shots. I think she was thankful that my family sessions in the fall are only 30-minutes.

The Gorski Family | Short Family Session in the Studio and Urban Downtown Sun Prairie

The horrible mosquitoes made us decide for a studio/urban short session for the Gorski family and it was a perfect mix for this family. Baby Davis is just 2 months old and decided to flash me a smile for his individual pictures and the older boys had me laughing the entire time. The boys being ages 4, 3 and 2 months were perfect for a sibling picture laying down on my shag rug and 3 year old Perry made it one of my favorite pictures taken of the entire year.

Beula Family | Urban Family Session in Downtown Sun Prairie

I’ve been photographing the Beula family since 4 year old Anne was juts 3 months old. It’s great that they are willing to make the hour and a half drive down to Sun Prairie for their annual family pictures. This year we tried something a little different from last year and did an urban family session in downtown Sun Prairie. It was so much fun and (as always) we had lots and lots of laughs together.

Smedema Family Portraits with young brothers | Sun Prairie Photographer

This was my first time meeting the Smedema family but it felt like I knew them for years. Their two young boys were so much fun and warmed right up to me right away. They made being a photographer easy and laughed at all my corny jokes. We had the perfect mix of formally posed and silly candid family portraits. And to think, all of this happened during a short family portrait session and they were in and out within 30 minutes.

Annual Fall Family Photos with the Beula Family

September and October is the busy season for photographers. Families always make this time of year the time to do their annual family photos. It’s fun to see the same families fall after fall and see how big the kids have gotten. The Beula family is no exception. It was so much fun joking around with these two. Anne thought I was hilarious. Gordon…not so much. I’ll have wait another year and win him over next.
