This family of four invited me to their beautiful home in Stoughton, WI for their annual family pictures. The last time I saw them they were only a family of three so it was very exciting to meet their newest addition who was 4 months old.
I had a fun morning with this family of five during our lifestyle photo session in their home near Madison, WI. It was so much fun to watch big brother with his 6 month old twin brother and sister. We read a lot of books but also found time to play with some trucks.
Spending the morning with the Eckerly was so much fun. During their lifestyle session we read, ate strawberries, played dress-up, and played with blocks. But my favorite part was when the dad broke out the guitar and everyone sang and danced.
This past fall I had the honor to photograph Lori and Cody’s beautiful wedding at their house in Bear Valley, WI. (Part 1 and Part 2). Of course when we found out Baby LoCo was on the way, I had to make another trip out to their house for the maternity session.
My bonus baby turned one year old and my plan for a low key birthday celebration quickly spiraled out of control. His theme was “blue” so I ran with it. As a photographer, I knew I wanted pictures to remember his first birthday because this is such a special time in his life (even if he won’t remember it). Looking back at the day, I wish I would have hired a special event photographer for the party so I could have been in the moment. Throwing a party at your house is already crazy and stressful, but then trying to be the party photographer on top of that was a little too much. Next time I’ll leave it to the experts.
On the other hand, I would love to be the event photographer like this. It would be so much fun to capture all of those special moments with friends and family so the parents can be in the moment.
Here’s a peek at my boy’s blue themed first birthday party.
I had his monthly photos with his chalkboard displayed in the living room and the racing stripe went around the entire main level.
Last weekend I spent the morning with my brother, sister-in-law and my nephew who just turned 3 months old. (Check out his newborn session here.)
We did a lifestyle session. Many have asked “What is a lifestyle session?” This is a session that is in your home that documents the details of your life. It’s unscripted, unposed, laid back and so much fun to do. Three months old is a perfect age for this since babies that young still can’t do too much besides lay on their back and smile (hopefully). Throw some tummy time in there and those are the few poses you can go at that age. A lifestyle session will help you capture your true life. I really enjoy doing this type of session and hope to do many more this winter.
